The Cleaver is a powerful carbon filled brute of a binding, designed for taking speed, sending it deep and lightning-fast edge-to-edge board control. Built on our burly FullWrap platform for maximum power transfer, a carbon composite highback and baseplate, the Cleaver is also fully loaded with our AuxTech® strap package. With next level adjustability and board feel thanks to PivotMount Max and DuraCush™ SubBase pads, the Cleaver is the go-to for Ståle Sandbech and any rider who wants high octane performance.
Redesigned, recalibrated and reenergized, our FullWrap platform is pure power and maximum energy transfer. The all-new FullWrap platform is a sturdy, bombproof chassis that loves to send it.
New for this season, our bindings feature FastEntry Technology for super quick and easy entry into the binding. The pre-curved ladder on the ankle and toe straps are designed to pop open and help keep the straps out of your way while getting your boot into the binding. Strap in faster and easier thanks to FastEntry!
New for this season, our BombProof Buckles are a one-piece forged aluminum construction for better grip and durability. Built with wider stance teeth area for more engagement, this makes for easier ratcheting and increased protection from wear and tear to your ladder straps.
A Rome exclusive binding innovation, PivotMounts are small adjustable pieces that allow riders to move the position of their ankle straps on their boots. The higher up on your boot the ankle strap sits, the more power and turn initiation. The lower the strap goes, the more surfy and tweakable your riding will be.
PivotMount Max provides 8 different strap options per side of the ankle strap, 64 configurations total.
Designed so riders can adjust their highbacks to mirror the angle of their heelside edge for maximum power transfer.
Built so that riders can adjust the angle of their highback to mirror the angle of their lower leg for increased connection and stability.
Created to help fit a wider range of boot models and sizes.

I finally upgraded and I was super stoked about the new tech, responsiveness, and functionality of these bindings. Brand loyal for life.
Finally got to ride the new cleaver' this week on pretty variable terrain - northeast fresh heavy snow and some ice. The high backs were similar in tension to my katana's and super responsive. I mounted these on the ravine select and immediately felt the superior power transmission edge to edge. Rome won me over years ago with the canted footbeds, and these were similarly super comfy on my knees to ride first to last chair. Thank you Rome for making the best bindings in the industry!
This is my third set of Rome bindings in the last 8 years and they keep getting better. The Cleavers are light, responsive and customizable. Pumped about the new setup!
I love the feel of this binding. Even though it is Rome's stiffest binding it is by no means freeride only. I'd put it at a 7/10. There's quite a bit of give with the thick "duracush" base and also a lot of variance in feel from how tight you run the straps. Very damp on my trashed knees. Precise when I want it but very predictable and still let you take it easy and surf the mountain if that's your vibe.
These lose a star for a few reasons:
ALL the screws regularly come loose. And there are a lot. After losing a couple from the baseplate adjustment - which FYI no shop will carry - I got in touch with support. They sent me replacements and recommended I use blue loctite on everything. Rome is well known for screws coming loose so I'm not sure why they don't put the loctite on at the factory. I've gotten so I check them daily and they are always a bit loose. Will loctite when I get a chance.
Also, the toe ratchets rattle although I only notice this in slow speed riding.
Final reason for lost star - the toe strap adjustment side has come loose on me twice. Frankly this is a stupid design, and I'm glad I caught it before losing the strap. It is a "quick release" but somehow comes open on it's own AND is extremely hard to open with your hands. I don't get it. Just use a screw there. This is a one time adjustment.
Anyway, these feel so nice they still get 4/5 stars.
Cleaver is the best binding I have so far. Very responsive, comfortable. Also the shock absorption is excellent and you have a lot of room to adjust. Highly recommend!
