Tried and true, the Rome Katana is the binding that pushed the envelope and redefined what customization means for bindings. This all-terrain butcher is equally comfortable dissecting tree runs or spinning through the jump line. Armed with the new ProFlex ankle strap, ultra-adjustable PivotMount Max and the surfy board feel only found on Rome’s AsymWrap platform, the Katana is always dialed and never dull.
This is my third set of Rome binding and second set of katana. Fantastic binding. Very playful/surfy and forgiving while charging jumps and playing around in deep snow. But powerful enough when charging through the trees. Really do it all binding aim more at all mountain riding that want to okay every where and still can stand up in the park laps. Also have funny shaped feet and these are the most comfortable binding I have ridden. will be hard to get me on any other big Mountain binding.
Fantastic all-mountain bindings. Easily adjustable and fit my boot so snugly. Very pleased with my purchase!
I have struggled for 10+ years with VERY unhappy feet on the MT. I cycled through several pairs of boots and though things improved once dual zone boas came out, I still found myself in excruciating pain almost everytime I hit the slopes. I'd developed a system of just the right socks, driving to the MT in my boots, loosening my binding whenever I was on the lift, and nursing/managing the pain constantly... it was a huge hassle. If it weren't for the fact that snowboarding is a main family activity for me to do with my husband and kids I would have quite a long time ago.
I initially contacted Rome about boot reccomendatiins as I was sure that was my issue. A very helpful person suggested I try finding some canted footbeds, OR try another (nonRome) brand of boot. That impressed me.
So I began looking for canted footbeds for my Burton bindings... with no luck and zero help from that service department. So I then started shopping around for bindings that cant and came back to Rome and their Katana bindings.
I was hesitant to spend the money on a gamble, but the more reviews I read/watched and the more research I did, it seemed to make sense that these bindings would help my feet.
They ended up not fitting my 3D board, so I borrowed my sons old DWD maet board until I can get around to modifying some baseplate to work on the 3D setup
These are by far the most responsive bindings I have ever ridden in. And I think that is the biggest factor for my newly happy feet. My old bindings had so much lag time compared to these and my feet were working WAY to hard fighting for control of the board. Now, I just have to think and the board responds. I have never felt so connected to the board. The design of the straps makes it possible to dial in super tight, but still avoid having pinch points. Not to mention how adjustable every part of the binding is!
Now I'm curios to see how my old board feels once I am able get these bindings on it and I can experience a better connection with it.
I very rarely write reviews, but felt these bindings just had to be praised. As well as the stellar customer service I received along the way! I mean, they reccomended another brands boots - talk about putting the customers needs first!
Hands down the best binding I've ever ridden. Super comfortable, durable, and very user friendly (adjusting the strap length and rotating the high back are a breeze). Although choosing the right snowboard can be tricky, choosing the right bindings is simple. The Katanas are the way to go.
Built to maximize tweakability and a surfy board feel, our innovative AsymWrap platform started the conversation about how bindings can and should ride.
A Rome exclusive binding innovation, PivotMounts are small adjustable pieces that allow riders to move the position of their ankle straps on their boots. The higher up on your boot the ankle strap sits, the more power and turn initiation. The lower the strap goes, the more surfy and tweakable your riding will be.
PivotMount Max provides 8 different strap options per side of the ankle strap, 64 configurations total.
Designed so riders can adjust their highbacks to mirror the angle of their heelside edge for maximum power transfer.
Built so that riders can adjust the angle of their highback to mirror the angle of their lower leg for increased connection and stability.
Created to help fit a wider range of boot models and sizes.
